Modern Slavery Statement
Cleaners Westminster Modern Slavery Statement
Cleaners Westminster is committed to conducting all aspects of its business in an ethical, responsible, and transparent manner. This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps we take to identify, prevent, and address the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in our own operations and in our supply chains. It applies to all employees, contractors, agency workers, and suppliers engaged by Cleaners Westminster.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
We operate a clear and unequivocal zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, servitude, and human trafficking. We do not accept, condone, or ignore any practice that exploits individuals, undermines their dignity, or deprives them of their fundamental rights.
All staff and business partners are expected to act with integrity and in full compliance with applicable laws relating to labour, employment, and human rights. Any breach of this policy by employees may result in disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal. Any breach by suppliers or contractors may result in termination of contracts and business relationships.
Our People and Working Practices
Cleaners Westminster is committed to fair and lawful recruitment, employment, and management practices. We ensure that all employees have the right to work in the country where they are engaged and that employment is freely chosen. No worker will be required to lodge deposits, surrender identification documents, or pay recruitment fees to secure work.
We provide all workers with clear information about their roles, rates of pay, and working conditions. Wages are paid regularly and directly to workers, and working hours, rest periods, and leave entitlements comply with legal and contractual requirements. We actively promote an open culture in which concerns about unethical or illegal practices can be raised without fear of retaliation.
Supply Chain Standards and Supplier Audits
We recognise that the risk of modern slavery can be higher within complex supply chains. Cleaners Westminster therefore expects all suppliers and subcontractors to uphold equivalent standards of ethical conduct and labour practices. Our supplier selection and onboarding processes include an assessment of each supplier's approach to labour rights, health and safety, and human rights.
We reserve the right to conduct audits of our suppliers where we consider it appropriate and proportionate to the level of risk. These audits may include reviewing documents, policies, and records relating to recruitment, pay, and working conditions, as well as interviewing workers where this is feasible and safe. Where issues are identified, we expect timely and effective corrective action. Continued non-compliance may lead to suspension or termination of the business relationship.
Raising Concerns and Reporting Channels
Cleaners Westminster encourages anyone connected with our operations, including employees, agency workers, and suppliers, to speak up if they suspect any instance of modern slavery or human trafficking. Concerns may relate to our own operations or to those of our suppliers and business partners.
Reports can be made to line managers, senior management, or via established internal reporting routes. All concerns will be taken seriously, treated confidentially so far as practicable, and investigated promptly and impartially. We are committed to ensuring that no individual suffers any detriment for raising a concern in good faith, even if it is not substantiated following investigation.
Training, Awareness, and Continuous Improvement
We are committed to increasing awareness of modern slavery risks across the business. Relevant staff, particularly those involved in recruitment, procurement, and supplier management, receive guidance to help them recognise warning signs and respond appropriately to suspected cases. We also keep our policies and procedures under regular review to ensure they remain effective and reflect evolving best practice.
Annual Review and Governance
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed at least annually by senior management to assess its effectiveness and relevance. The review considers any incidents reported, audit findings, changes to legal requirements, and developments in best practice. Where improvements are identified, we will update our policies, processes, and training accordingly.
This statement has been approved by the leadership of Cleaners Westminster and represents our ongoing commitment to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains.
